Back to creative work today after a few days away from the studio: wall view of small in-progress mixed media pieces.
Mixed media pieces, in various stages of development are piling up ... it's a lovely feeling to reach the (almost) completion of a couple of works!
I have come to accept the reality (epiphany!) that all my work goes through many lives and manifestations (even with my best of intentions to work in a linear line of creation). It is a long journey for most with numerous metamorphosis stages, sometimes spending long periods of time in one form, only to be suddenly, unrecognizably transformed into a new entity.
That is my process, and their journeys are my daily mediations - I respect and love each piece and am grateful for their creation.
Larger in-progress 30" x 30" mixed media piece & almost fully formed 18" x 18" mixed media
Rearranged a few large pieces on the wall to apply more layers. It is almost time for a session of 'taking away' with my lovely palm-sander and then more layers of paint and paper.
The other side of my studio = chaos. Piles of wee works in-progress. I usually thrive in the mess but feeling very challenged and discouraged in my creative process lately .... but I keep moving forward.
